I am a postdoctoral research fellow working with Dr. Kengthsagn Louis in the Self, Health, Identity, and Culture (SHIC) Lab at Boston College. My research program, which I refer to as A Social Motives Approach to Health Equity, investigates how people make sense of the world around them and how that process relates to how people think and feel about themselves. In particular, my work explores how these processes help us explain inequities related to health and other outcomes in important life domains. More specifically, I aim to use my work to solve critical social problems, like navigating bias in the doctor-patient relationship, how to improve the quality of evaluative information received in interpersonal contexts (e.g., reducing misdiagnosis related to bias and prejudice, improving the quality of performance feedback at work). Additionally, my work explores how one's mindset, and even one's perception of others’ mindsets, might influence how we strive for desirable change in ourselves, in others, and in society. You can read more about my work in a recent interview with the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.
